The new AMD mobile processor effort is getting embraced all across the board by the main manufacturers. The recently announced Acer Aspire One 1551 11.6-inch netbook has now begun shipping to the US for customers interested in the netbook. To refresh your memory the Aspire One 1551 is powered by a 1.5 GHz Turion II Neo K625 CPU which is based on the AMD Nile Platform for mobile computing. This laptop can just barely be considered a netbook but can very easily be considered a ultra-portable due to it’s size and 5 hours battery-life.

Other specifications for this ultra-portable include a 11.6-inch (1366 x 768) LED-backlit display, Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit, 4GB of RAM, a 320GB hard drive, Radeon HD 4225 integrated graphics, a 1.3 megapixel webcam, a 5-in-1 card reader, Ethernet, 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi, a built-in webcam, and a 6-cell battery.
