This past Friday Windows 7 officially turned 1 years old. To celebrate the great success that is Windows 7, Microsoft announced they will have stopped shipping Windows XP to OEM’s. For the netbook market this means new netbooks will from now on only come with Windows 7 Starter or Full Windows 7. Netbook OEM’s have been using Windows XP since the netbook was first contrived years ago due to it not needing as many resources to operate cleanly.
This news couldn’t come at a better time. The netbook OEM’s are now starting to offer netbooks with faster processors, memory and all-round stronger specifications. The recent chip that has proved popular with netbook recently announced for the holiday season is the Intel Atom N550 1.5GHz dual core processor. Asus, Acer, HP and Samsung are just some companies that are about to start offering netbooks with that particular CPU in the coming months. [Via]
