Google Chrome OS Netbook Rumors Resurface With Possible Release Dates
Posted on 03. Nov, 2010 by Neil in Netbooks
The idea of a Google Chrome OS netbook has been floating around the interwebs for almost the entire Summer of 2010. The rumors are heating up even more now with the end of the year hastily approaching. The latest talk is that a Google netbook could be released sometime during this month, November.
The first product Google really had a strong hand in creating was the Nexus One mobile phone. However their own notebook/netbook is a big leap up for the California based company. It’s pretty insane to think that it all started as a site that intelligently indexed website.
The rumors goes on to name a possible manufacturer as well, Inventec (the name sounds phony but it’s a real company). The rumor states that Inventec will be manufacturing 60-70K units for the initial shipment this month. The netbook being rumored will be a Google brain child but they reportedly will have two big time names in notebooks offer Google Chrome OS netbook’s.
Acer and HP are said to be releasing their own Google Chrome OS products shortly after the Google/Inventec netbook. The rumored release date for Acer and HP’s netbook is aimed at December of 2010. Both Acer and HP will use the manufacturing house Quanta to make their respective netbooks, according to the rumor.
Hopefully someone from Google or Acer or even HP could release some sort of official statement to address these rumors. [Via]
