The custom builders at System76 originally announced the Starling Netbook back in July, the netbook was the first real customizable netbook based on Ubuntu Linux. Today, System76 has updated their Starling Netbook with a new CPU. The 10″ netbook previously came with the Intel Atom N455 1.66Ghz Single-Core CPU, but that has been updated to the new Dual Core Intel Atom N550 1.50GHz CPU.
The new chip doesn’t affect the price in a bad way, the netbook now starts at $385 which is a drop of $4 from the launch price of $389. You can custom order the System76 Starling Netbook right now on the System76 website.
Other than the N550 the netbook features a 10.1-inch WSVGA (1024 x 600) LED Back-lit screen, Intel GMA 3150 graphics, LAN 10/100, Wi-Fi b/g/n, SD card reader, 0.3MP webcam, 3x USB ports, VGA, Headphone, Microphone Jack and either a 3-cell or 6-cell battery. The Starling Netbook weights in at a mere 2.0lbs. [System76]
