Portable but powerful is what Lenovo was going for with their new ThinkPad X series netbook/ultra-portable notebook. The Lenovo ThinkPad X120e isn’t going to become available until next month but Lenovo has already detailed the new mobile ThinkPad.
The X120e is based around an AMD Fusion E-Series Accelerated Processing Unit (APU) technology. Lenovo says the new X120e is more powerful but also more power-efficient than the previous Lenovo ThinkPad X100e. If you never paid attention when Lenovo launched the X100e a year ago it had some serious faults one being the battery life it could only last 3 hours. Lenovo wants to change all of that with the X120e, they claim the new X120e can last up to 6 hours (with 6-cell battery).
As for the performance end the ultra-portable X120e has been outfitted with the new Fusion AMD E-350 APU which features two 1.6 GHz Bobcat cores and AMD Radeon HD 6310 graphics. The E-350 APU has already been benchmarked and reviewed on it’s own –not when inside the X120e– and it’s been found to be much better than any current Intel Atom processor.
Other features the Lenovo ThinkPad X120e are available below as well as a small gallery of press photos. Lenovo plans to bring the new ultra-portable to market next month with a starting price of $399.
