Acer Aspire One Netbooks With AMD C-50 Fusion APU, Details and Pre-Order

AMD has engineered their new APU (Accelerated Processor Unit) chips with hopes of whipping the Intel Atom counterparts in both performance and power efficiency, they have succeeded. The AMD APU class processors are comprised of a C-Series (Ontario) and an E-Series (Zacate) both of which feature two chips at the moment. For this post the chip of importance is the dual-core 1.0 GHz AMD C-50 APU. The C-50 APU is comprised of two Bobcat processing cores and a AMD Radeon HD 6250 graphics core.
The APU’s processing power is strong and outperforms Intel’s dual-core N550 in most benchmarks (Cinebench 10 is the only thing the N550 wins at and the margin is small) and it consumes slightly less power too. As for the HD 6250 graphics (DirectX 11 capable) you can’t even compare the GMA 3150 to it, the HD 6250 outperforms Intel’s integrated Atom graphics by a mile in graphics benchmarks. The HD 6210 paired with the two 1.0 GHz Bobcat cores on the APU it allows you the user to enjoy all forms of HD content as well as do some gaming.
Now for when you will be able to enjoy AMD’s latest creation, Acer has just made available for pre-order two netbooks which feature the C-50 APU. The Acer Aspire One AO522-BZ897 (Black) and AO522-BZ824 (Olive Green) are both available on pre-order now for the price of $329.99.
For that price you don’t just get the C-50 you also get a 10.1-inch (1280 x 800) LED back-lit display, 1GB of RAM, 250GB of HDD storage, Wi-Fi b/g/n, LAN, an HDMI output port, a 1.3 MP webcam, 6-cell battery (up to 6 hours of life) and Windows 7 Starter. [Black Pre-Order] [Olive Green Pre-Order]
