The very thin and light Toshiba AC100 smartbook or netbook has received a nice update to Android 2.2 Froyo OS today. The 10.1-inch smartbook has been running on the aged Android 2.1 Eclair OS, 2.2 is still old but is still better than nothing for an update.
The update to Android 2.2 Froyo will give you the AC100 owner access to Adobe Flash Player, faster all-round performance for 3rd party applications available on the Android Marketplace, the ability to install applications using an SD card to name the big changes.
However the one thing you will notice is an all-round performance boost doing most tasks, notes Chippy from CarryPad check out his first impressions here.
If you don’t own the AC100 and never heard about it when it was launched last year here are some of the major features:
- Google Android OS
- 10.1-inch display with 1024 x 600 resolution
- Nvidia Tegra 2 1GHz dual-core SoC with GeForce ULP graphics
- 512MB RAM
- 8GB of NAND flash on board storage
- 1.3MP webcam
- Wi-Fi (b/g/n), Bluetooth 2.1, GPS, an optional 3G module
- SD memory card slot, a USB port, a mini-USB port and HDMI-out
- At thinnest point the AC100 measures 14mm and it weights 870g
