Affordable and Child-friendly ‘Lenovo Classmate+’ Netbook Announced

The Intel’s Classmate range of netbooks has gained a new model from new partner Lenovo. The Lenovo Classmate+ uses the same reference design as the standard Intel Learning Series netbook but it’s is manufactured by Lenovo and features Lenovo branding on the lid.
The partnership is a bit historic really, Lenovo is the first top-tier PC vendor to join Intel in their quest to provide underprivileged children of the world access to affordable, durable and useful PC’s.
In the official press release for this monumental event Intel and Lenovo announce that orders for the new Classmate+ have already reached 158,000. With their other less famous vendors have been able to bring affordable Classmate netbooks to over 3 million children.
The new Classmate+ features Windows 7 operating system, Intel Learning Series software for education, an Intel Atom N455 (1.66 GHz) single-core processor, 1/2 GB of RAM, a 160/250 GB HDD or 8/16 GB SSD, a 10.1-inch LED backlit anti-glare screen, a 1.3 megapixel camera, Wi-Fi, Ethernet, USB ports and a 4-in-1 memory card reader. Lenovo’s Classmate+ is available for purchase by education and government customers only through Lenovo’s retail channel partners.
