ASUS Google Chrome OS netbookASUS is reportedly working on a $200-$250 netbook for near future release. The netbook is being reported as having Intel internal hardware and some form of Google software pre-loaded.

Many including me are presuming this netbook will features Google Chrome OS instead of the other popular guess Google Android Honeycomb OS. The Chrome OS has a strong likelyhood of being the operating system based partialy on the recent Google push to get the OS ready for the public via pilot programs and partialy due to previous rumors.

From last year there have been loud whispers of a potential Google Chrome OS netbook being launched by one of the big netbook makers in the near future. Even Google themselves in late 2010 stated Chrome OS notebooks rocking Intel hardware would be coming from the likes of Acer, Samsung and other partners shortly.

Google Cr-48 Chrome OS LaptopMost recently the Executive with control over the Google Cr-48 pilot program, when announcing supplies of the free pilot program netbooks were gone, stated partner devices were still on track for release soon.

We’ll just have to wait and see if ASUS slips into the other OEM’s group by launching a Chrome OS netbook at the sweet price of $200-$250.
