Sony VAIO Laptop With Google Chrome OS Coming? See Possible Features

Google’s lightweight operating system that offers you the user speedy access to the web is coming soon. The operatings system titled Google Chrome OS, if you haven’t heard, has already been dispensed to over 60,000 people as a part of a beta testing program in the past few months.
Google has also announced recently that with partners Acer and Samsung will be launching the first Chrome OS notebooks/netbooks for consumers this Summer. After that initial release Google states other makers will be releasing notebooks.
Hopefully as a part of the other notebook makers that will be coming shortly after the Summer releases by Acer and Samsung, Sony will be launching a Chrome OS ultra-portable laptop of their own.
The unnamed Sony VAIO 11.6″ Chrome OS notebook has been tipped off by the folks at Sony Insider (SI). According to their information Sony is currently working on such a notebook for future release. Going by the info released by SI this new notebook will be powered by an ARM based dual-core processor, feature 8 hours of battery life and weight a little over 2 pounds, does that have you interested?

- Nvidia Tegra 2 (250) platform
- 11.6? (1366×768) LCD display
- 1 GB of Memory
- 16 GB eMMC (electronic multimedia card)
- Ultra-low power GeForce GPU
- Wireless WAN
- Wide Keyboard (18mm) will be pretty similar to the Google Chrome Cr-48 laptop keyboard
- Dimensions: less than an inch thick at around 19.9 mm; width is at 11.7? (298 mm) and it is 21.5 cm (8.46?) deep
- It should weigh around 2.2 lb (or 1kg)
- 8 hour battery life
- Features like Bluetooth and GPS will be enabled later on, so don’t expect those two right at launch in summer of 2011.
At the moment SI is being led to believe that this new ARM processor based Chrome OS notebook from Sony will be launched this Summer. We hope that is true if we go buy Sony’s recent VAIO notebooks this upcoming Chrome OS laptop is sure to be an eye pleaser.

not really appealing. i want either a laptop that is close as dimensions/weight to macbook air, or a laptop that has at least 15 inches display, or a thin/lite tablet with at least 10 inches display. a one inch thick laptop with a small display won’t do it for me.
