Intel Looking To Push For Fanless Netbooks With New Atom CPUs
Posted on 21. Mar, 2011 by Ricky in Netbooks
Netbooks with Intel Atom CPUs are about as common as Monday mornings, but with the recent showing by AMD Fusion APU’s the rampant use of Intel chips could be put to a stop soon. The new Fusion APUs on average consume the same if not less power than current Atom CPUs while still offering more performance in gaming and 1080p HD playback and output via HDMI.
Now you would think Intel chip engineers would be some busy bee’s right now working on a new line of low-power chips to compete in performance with the new Fusion APUs. And you’d probably be right, but don’t expect to see any sort of sampling of such chips at the first Intel Developer Forum (IDF) for the year, on April 13th in Beijing, China.
Going by new information published by UMPC Portal Intel will be bringing focus to fanless netbook designs and enhanced Wi-Fi technologies for netbooks all while introducing their new line of Cedar Trail Atom CPUs.
The Cedar Trail Atom processors other than having attributes that satisfy those aforementioned features are expected to offer Intel Wireless Display and Wireless Audio technologies, which would allow you to use your netbook to wirelessly stream up to 720p HD video as well as audio to a TV connected to the necessary host device (Netgear Push 2 TV box).
Below you can check out the planned schedule for the IDF event scheduled for Beijing as worded by Intel.
Designing a New Generation of Netbooks with the Intel® Atom™ Processor Based Platform
This session will introduce a new set of platform features and innovations that will allow HW manufacturers and developers the opportunity to build the next generation of exciting netbook designs that will delight the consumer. In addition, attendees will get first looks at the next generation Intel® Atom™ processor based platform.
Topics covered in this session:
• Platform capabilities enabled by Intel® WiFi solutions that deliver new netbook usage models
• Features and benefits overview of the next generation Intel Atom processor based platform
• Thermal solutions for cool and quiet fanless netbook designs
• Exciting demonstrations

Intel has something that AMD will never be able to develop:
ILLEGAL EXCLUSIVITY BRIBES AND THREATS WORTH BILLIONS OF DOLLARS.
That’s why the Feds fined Michael Dell a few million dollars – for hiding those illegal payments from Dell’s shareholders.
How come Otellini ain’t in jail?
