Slim & Light or Long Battery Life? Two Upcoming Netbook’s Let You Pick

Gadget maker Hercules has officially announced they will be releasing two new Linux based netbook’s this April. The two new models give you the buyer a choice of having a very portable computing experience via a slim and light chassis or a very portable computing experience via long battery life performance.
The Hercules eCAFÉ Slim HD will be the option for you if you want the former and the Hercules eCAFÉ EX HD will be your option if you want the later– however whichever model you desire Hercules states both offer 720p HD video playback.
For the Slim HD you get a 10-inch netbook experience but the full package measures a mere 0.8-inches in thickness and weighs in at just 1.9 pounds. As for the EX HD you get the same 10-inch mobile computing experience you should be accustom to on a netbook but for measurements the EX HD is 1.1-inches thick and it weighs 2.4 pounds.
Each of the upcoming eCAFÉ netbook’s will come pre-installed with open source Linux for an operating system. Also each model will be powered by an ARM Cortex-A8 processor (non-X86 CPU) and 512MB of DDR2 RAM is also supplied on each model.
Now the storage is where things start to get different for each of the two netbook’s; the Slim HD will have 8GB of iNAND Flash storage and 50GB online storage from Hercules, the EX HD will have 16GB (8GB iNAND Flash + 8GB SDHC mem. card) that is expandable to 72GB plus the 50GB of online storage from Hercules.
Other features that will be included with the netbook’s can be seen below and if you think you want one Hercules states they will retail the Slim HD for $229 and the EX HD for $269 both in April remember.

- Ethernet RJ-45 port
- 3 USB 2.0 ports, 1 mini-USB port (Mini-USB cable included) and Ethernet RJ-45 port
- Webcam with built-in microphone
- External card reader (SD, MMC, SDHC) and internal card reader
- Colors and models may vary from one country to another
